Ideas for Eating Out

For Foodies....

Morning

How about breakfast in one of the town's lovely cafes ? Maybe read the paper and plan your day.
Next; pop into the Flea market across the road. If you like the War Weekend you can get all kinds of vintage clothes and frankly, odd stuff from here.
Helmsley is worth visiting in any weather. Try  cinnamon-twist bakery (opposite the church) as they do the best bread and cakes you could ask for. There are loads of other delis in the town as well.

Lunch?

Well, you are spoiled for choice. If you want to splash out you could always pop over to the Star at Harome. It used to have a Michelin star and, who knows? Maybe it still has (there's one in York now). The bar food is just as good as the restaurant food so don't feel you have to spend a fortune.
Alternatively, Feast (next door to the White Swan) has great affordable lunches with a place to kids to play.
Shopping-wise,  Ebony has just moved onto the High Street  and if you can't find an interesting gift there, well, you're not trying hard enough.

Evening Meal

You could try the Italian Figaro at the top of the High Street or the White Swan itself. Even better in the winter with a roaring fire in the bar and lounge. There's a new bistro next to Lazy Sundae (willowgate bistro) which we keep hearing good things about. There is a great chip shop up the road though....Potter Hill Fish Shop
